In windows XP with JAWS
Using Spell Check
In the world of the seeing, there are green and red lines on a document to tell someone that the sentence is incorrect or the word is spelled wrong.
But for us we need to depend on Spell Check.
After typing a document or even just a word I use Spell Check.
I will open a new document and type a word that I am not sure how to spell.
Then I follow the following steps.
Press…”F7” which is at the top of your keyboard above the numbers.
You will hear…(if the document or word is correct)… F7 Microsoft word dialog…the spelling and grammar is correct…OK
button You then press the space bar and you are back on the document.
If there are mistakes in the document when you press F7 You will hear…F7 Not a dictionary: and then the word that is misspelled.
Jaws will then spell the word that is wrong, restate the sentence that is wrong, tell you that there are to many spaces between two words or other problems.
If you have mistakes Press the tab one time and you will be in a suggestion combo box.
Now use your arrow down key to locate the correct word.
After you have found the correct word tab down to change
And press enter.
Sometimes there are words that you know how to spell that are not in the dictionary or it is a person’s name that you know is correct and you would like to ignore the computers suggestion.
In this case tab down to the ignore tab or ignore all key and hit enter if the word is in the document numerous times.
If you are not sure about what the Spell Check is talking about, tab down to the cancel button and press enter.
Usually your computer is setting on the sentence with the mistake in it. ALWAYS reread the document after there has been spell Check corrections because even Microsoft is not perfect.
If there is a name or word that is not in the dictionary there is an option in the spell check on the tab menu to add the word.
Tab to add and press enter.
